Madrid, 18.12.2025 — VILLAGE Coworking Boutique , one of the pioneering spaces in the concept of creative coworking in Spain, announces the closure of its doors after 12 years of activity.
From its inception, VILLAGE distinguished itself by its unique character. It was born almost by accident, driven by two advertising creatives and located in a historic mansion, an environment that broke with the traditional patterns of the sector.
The idea arose when the advertising agency Zapping separated from its British partner. “We had 1,000 square meters left for 25 people, in a space designed for 100,” recalls Urs Frick, one of its founders. It was an opportune moment: coworking spaces were starting to gain traction in the Spanish market. Thus, in 2014, VILLAGE was born, a name derived from the advertising group's former holding company, which almost naturally became the ideal place to share talent and creativity. Furthermore, its location in the Justicia/Salesas neighborhood, one of the city's most attractive areas today, immediately drew interest, and has continued to do so ever since.
Gradually, the space filled with coworkers, occupying tables in a creative environment decorated with modern art within a 19th-century setting. Everyone fell in love with its contemporary design aesthetic and palatial atmosphere. In September 2015, the project was officially named VILLAGE – Contemporary Communication Community, with the purpose of exclusively bringing together communication professionals.
However, as Uschi Henkes, one of its founders, explains, “life doesn’t go in a straight line,” and over time, people from other sectors began to join, enriching the diversity and strengthening the bonds between its members. This blend of friendship, collaboration, and shared well-being became the essence of VILLAGE, its hallmark, and its guiding principle throughout the years.
With the expansion of the coworking phenomenon and its consolidation in the market, the space evolved to adopt its definitive identity: VILLAGE Coworking Boutique. A name that reflected its philosophy and positioning in relation to the major operators in the sector:
“Neither too big nor too small, the perfect size in an exclusive frame.”
Today, VILLAGE bids farewell with pride for having been a different, inspiring and authentic space, which fostered the meeting of creative professionals and community work in a unique environment.
"Thank you to all the Coworkers who, throughout these years, have been part of our history."
Your enthusiasm, camaraderie, and creativity made VILLAGE a truly unique place. We will cherish the shared moments, the ideas born from laughter, and the energy that can only be felt when working surrounded by inspiring people.
