July 11 , 2019 - WeWork, the worldwide community of shared workspaces, is celebrating its first year in Barcelona today since the opening of its first office space, at number 86 of Tangier Street with more than 800 members. Since then, the group has opened two more spaces, the second one in the 121 of Ciutat de Granada, also in the 22 @ district, and the recently opened in the emblematic and historic The Corner building, at number 444 of Diagonal , in confluence with Paseo de Gracia and former headquarters of Cuatrecasas. WeWork currently has more than 5000 members in Spain, 2000 of them in Barcelona.

The company has already announced that it will open new spaces in 194 Pallars Street (also in 22 @) and at number 17 of Paseo de Gracia, former headquarters of Banco Popular. In addition, the firm has confirmed that it will implement in Barcelona - and for the first time in Spain - its new business line headquarters by WeWork with a new building located on Llacuna Street, and whose opening is planned for 2020. The building called WittyWood will be the first building in Spain made entirely of wood and with a design that recreates a natural work environment. CBRE, a leading consulting and real estate services company, has acted as the sole advisory agent between the owner and WeWork. The consultant, which has been operating in Barcelona since 1982, has also advised WeWork in three other offices in the city.

A global community focused on individual needs in the workspace

The new headquarters by WeWork business line , which will be offered at this new location, was launched last year in the United States and offers completely private, customized and flexible workspaces that adapt to the unique needs of growing companies. Its offer provides private spaces with flexible and personalized lease terms according to the needs of each company, including its workforce, work style, among others. Companies that are part of headquarters by WeWork benefit from the scope and integration offered by the WeWork team and that gives them the possibility to open new workspaces efficiently and without difficulties.

“Our decision to expand in Barcelona is explained by the growing network of businesses and opportunities that we see the city has. We are excited to continue expanding the WeWork community here with a building as unique as the one on Llacuna Street, and increase - on our first anniversary - our offer with headquarters by WeWork. This new line of business provides offices designed to respond uniquely to the needs and identity of each of the companies. I look forward to welcoming new members to our community in Barcelona, which has grown to 2000 members in a year and continues to support members of other spaces and connects them with our entire community, ” explained Audrey Barbier-Litvak, WeWork General Manager for southern Europe.
