LOOM Huertas and Merlin Properties, a case of union between two industries

By coworkingspain

The ties between the coworking and real estate industry are consolidated with the union of two of the great agents of both sectors, the pioneers of collaborative workspaces in Spain, Loom House, and one of the most important international firms in real estate, Merlin Properties. Union make force! And in the case of these two, it will also give much to talk about.

It has been a year since the Spanish firm headed by Ismael Clemente decided to enter fully into the coworking business by buying 31% of Loom House, as did another of the Spanish real estate referents, Colonial. Both companies have followed in the footsteps of international opinions launched by consultants such as JLL or Gartner that ensure that the success of real estate goes through collaboration with the coworking industry .

In the case of Merlin and Loom House, the alliance built between the two will allow the joint opening of new shared work spaces in buildings belonging to the company's heritage, being key to the expansion of a Spanish coworking classic.

The perfect tandem

Since its founding in 2014, Merlin Properties has demonstrated its great commitment to innovation and once again has demonstrated its commitment to immersion in the coworking industry. Loom House, is not just any space, but this firm founded in 2016 at the Royal Tapestry Factory has at its head the brothers Paula and José Almansa, two precursors of collaborative culture in Spain since 2005. These brothers were two of the ten thinking heads that opened the first Spanish coworking, the Impact Hub.

After several years dedicated to the sector, they decided to open their own collaborative workspace in order to create a new social and professional paradigm focused on innovation, Loom said in a statement, to which they added that their purpose was, and continues being today, encourage and boost people's creativity, facilitate their transformation and make them "connect with their talent and strengths." Thus, Merlin has found in Loom the perfect partner for his new business project.

LOOM expansion and new opening

With the support of Merlin Properties, LOOM has opened a new space located in the former building of the Chamber of Commerce of Huertas Street in the Barrio de las Letras. The coworking, which takes as its philosophy "The Journey from Dream to Legend", has a total of five floors that recreate the different stages through which an entrepreneur passes: Dream, Game, Adventure, Travel and Legend. It has a capacity of 165 jobs, 19 private offices and a total of 300 square meters dedicated exclusively to event spaces.

In addition to the new openings of the firm LOOM, another new brand emerged from the alliance between the two companies began its journey in the streets of Madrid last June, it is Twisttt, a much more practical new ecosystem. This first brand space is located at number 5 on Princess Street in a building owned by Merlin Properties. This new space is being managed by Loom House, while Merlin brings the assets. But everything does not end here, they plan to open a new center before the end of 2018. Where will it be located?
